Mission:

It is the mission of the SAWCA Self-Insurance and Insurance Committee to identify current and emerging issues and challenges facing all stakeholders impacted by workers' compensation self-insurance regulations. The committee will promote research, information exchange, and discussion of those issues as well as facilitate and encourage the fair and efficient administration of workers' compensation systems.

Safety and Loss Prevention Sub-Committee

Mission:  The Mission of the SAWCA Safety and Loss Prevention Sub-Committee is to advance and educate workers' compensation system administrators in the role of safety and loss control and become the preferred forum of the participating member states' efforts in drafting safety and loss prevention legislation.

Goal: The goal of this sub-committee is to establish a unified workers compensation administrative system that encompass all available resources and policy analysis through improved procedures and programs that are designed to assist in solving common regulatory problems, regional concerns, options and priorities with respect to the mission and programs of SAWCA.

Objective:  Advise and assist the President of SAWCA on all safety and loss control matters requiring action of participating states. Request all boards and commission administrators to designate one employee to serve as a safety and health coordinator. This employee shall direct his/her states' workers compensation safety and loss control activities and act as a liaison. Develop and submit cost effective comprehensive risk management procedures for all SAWCA Boards and Commission Administrators. Collaborate with business, medical providers, trade, labor and research associations for the betterment of worker's compensation safety and loss control management programs. Commit to providing a work environment and working condition that will be free from recognized hazards for all employees and the general public who utilize private and public facilities.
